Amova

Amova Asset Management New Zealand (formerly Nikko AM NZ) was established in 1994 and manages funds for a diverse client base including charitable trusts, foundations, corporations, local governments, financial planners, investment product distributors and individual investors. Amova is a dedicated New Zealand investment manager whose parent company, Amova Asset Management, is one of Asia’s largest asset managers headquartered in Japan.

The NZ office is led by Stuart Williams who joined Amova in 2014 and become Managing Director in 2023. Amova actively manages New Zealand equity and fixed income assets with its local investment team based in Auckland. For their global assets, Amova has partnered with Goldman Sachs for global bonds, Amova Europe for global equities and ARK Invest for disruptive innovation. Amova New Zealand believes that markets are not always efficient and indices are constrained, therefore active investment management can discover and benefit from identified opportunities.

Generate

Generate is a New Zealand fund manager who has carved out a significant niche for itself in the investment landscape since its establishment in 2012 by Henry Tongue and Sam Goldwater. They are an award-winning New Zealand owned KiwiSaver and wealth manager, with a track record of strong long-term performance and industry recognition for their community and environmental impact investments. Tongue is the CEO, primarily focusing on non-investment aspects, while Goldwater leads all the investment decisions. Their combined expertise has been a key driver behind Generate’s success, whereby it is now one of the larger non-bank KiwiSaver Providers.

The firm partners with financial advisers to distribute their products and as a result, almost all Generate’s members have joined through this channel. Generate has enjoyed strong growth in its assets under management from less than $700 million in 2017 to over $6.5 billion today.

Harbour

Founded in 2009, Harbour's focus is managing external client money, so their success is solely based on generating strong outcomes for investors. When working with Harbour, clients know what to expect: research-driven, patient investment management and fully focused on client outcomes.

Harbour Asset Management is the asset management arm of FirstCape Group Limited and manage funds for a variety of clients including superannuation schemes, banks and KiwiSaver scheme providers, Iwi, charitable trusts, community trusts, Crown Financial Institutions, financial advisers, and high-net-worth individuals. The team specialises in managing New Zealand cash and fixed interest, Australasian equity, and globally diversified multi asset solutions. Harbour offers a suite of PIE (Portfolio Investment Entity) managed funds across different asset classes, partnering with leading managers, including T. Rowe Price and PIMCO for global solutions. 

Milford

Milford is a New Zealand fund manager founded in 2003 by an experienced group of individuals who recognised the need for an investment company that provides New Zealanders with a world class investment partner they can trust. Milford is privately owned, the majority by staff and board members (and founder’s family), and is one of New Zealand’s largest wealth managers.

The firm is led by Blair Turnball, who joined Milford in 2025. The investment team are located in Auckland and Sydney and led by Chief Investment Officer, Wayne Gentle and deputy CIOs Jonathan Windust and Paul Morris. Milford adopt a highly active approach to investing, with tactical asset allocation and bottom-up research as a core part of the firms philosophy. 

Pathfinder

Pathfinder Asset Management is an ethical New Zealand-based fund manager established in 2009, wholly owned by Alvarium Wealth New Zealand.

Pathfinder was founded by John Berry and Paul Brownsey, initially offering thematic/sector specific equity funds, before broadening out into global equities and multi-asset products. In 2019 Alvarium acquired a 51% stake in Pathfinder, buying the remaining 49% in 2021 when Berry and Brownsey assumed the roles of CEO and CIO. Alvarium New Zealand is a broadly diversified asset management business across property development, financial advice and funds management. The firm was established in 2017 by Alvarium UK co-founder Andrew Williams, along with Ben Gough and Brett Gamble who along with two other minority shareholders own 75% of the business.

Salt

Salt Funds Management (Salt) is a New Zealand boutique investment management business. The firm has been in the business of providing investment management services to New Zealanders since 2014. Salt is 100% owned by its staff, allowing them the nimbleness to be responsive to client needs, and market and industry developments.

Salt, a domestic equities specialist, began by running a large institutional client NZ equity portfolio mandate, before expanding out its client base and product offering. The first retail fund was launched in July 2014, and now offer a full range of funds including domestic equity, global equity and fixed income, listed real assets and alternatives. Salt has also created diversified fund solutions for income and growth.

To help best deliver these solutions, Salt is proud to have secured the services of two outstanding and highly rated managers to manage their global assets; Morgan Stanley Investment Management (London) and Cohen & Steers (New York).
