# KiwiSaver Government Contribution

## Make sure you're eligible for your 2026 Government contribution.

 

To receive the maximum annual Government contribution of $260.72 per year, the following important criteria apply:

1. You've been a member of KiwiSaver for the full year 1 July to 30 June.
2. You've contributed at least $1042.86 during that time.
3. You have mainly resided in New Zealand.
4. You're aged 16* - 65 years
5. If you earn more than $180,000 annually, you are no longer eligible for the government contribution.

**From 1 July 2025, 16 and 17 year olds are eligible for Government contributions. And from 1 April 2026 they're eligible for employer contributions.*

 

Even if you have not saved the full amount, the Government will still put in 25 cents for every dollar you put in between 1 July and 30 June up to the maximum of $260.72. Note: Only employee and voluntary contributions count towards the $1,042.86.

## What do you need to do to?

There’s no paperwork to go through, all you need to do is make sure you’ve invested the right amount of money into your KiwiSaver account **before 30 June 2026.**
